A Killer Guides STO Guide Review
Feb 21st
Although the STO guide is in its beta version when I got it, judging by the structure and amount of informative gaming know-how shared by the author, I found it sound and helpful. What truly amazed me was that the author was capable of getting a guide out very early, an entire month before the official game launch with good content.
As a long time MMORPG gamer who prefers to stick to guides and walkthroughs, besides the early guide release which took me by surprise was that there were practically no other guides around besides the discussion and mini-guides that can be found in forums.
Already found in the early version of the guide are a details on skills, career paths, ships, equipment, combat and bridge officers. This Star Trek Online guide is one recommendable read. Other more topic specific guides that’s posted on their site include the Star Trek Online Klingon guide, the Star Trek Online Federation guide and many others.
Introduction to STAR TREK ONLINE GUIDES
Dec 30th
Welcome to STAR TREK ONLINE GUIDES.
At the moment Star Trek Online is still in beta, but we are working on guides for this upcoming epic mmorpg! This STO guide is aimed to aid players from all background to fully enjoy the Star Trek Online gameplay, rather then get frustrated over the challenge of ranks that Cryptic Studios has decided on.
Meanwhile, lets go over some facts that we have accumulated from all our sources:
Cryptic Studios has officially announced the release date of February 2, 2010 for their latest MMORPG, Star Trek Online. The developer is faced with the situation of creating a game that has a duo-gameplay, or you can say two games in one. First, there is the ship content that is revolved around slow-paced strategic starship combat in space. Second, the “away missions” that are basically ground combat, where you form a team of 5 avatars and run through fast-paced action with portable weapons.
Game progression will revolve around ranks. Players will start from the Ensign rank and make their way through till the top rank, that is the Admiral rank. To rank up, players will have to obtain skill points, which is obtained through completing mission or winning combats. In between you will have to make it pass ranks like Lieutenant rank and Commander rank.
Obviously, when talking about Star Trek, we cannot avoid ships or starships in this case. Star Trek Online Ships are the essence of space sci-fi entertainment content. It is a fascination that humans have always dreamed of. Exploring the deep space for new civilization and strange new worlds. Star Trek Online, accurately captures this theme of Exploration from the core Star Trek TV series. You will go on missions in space, roam on exotic planets and even go aboard starships. Command your end crew as the Captain of your ship. Yes your very own ship and your very own crew.
PvP in Star Trek Online
Dec 28th
PvP in Star Trek Online will be surprisingly important, because of the importance that it holds for the Klingon faction. Different from the Federation Starfleet, the Klingon faction is highly dependent on PvP for player progression. Basically, the more enemies defeated in PvP the more skill points obtained and the higher rank you can achieve. Players of Star Trek Online will have a choice of battling out among the same faction or a different faction, or battle it out yourself or team up to defeat other Star Trek Online gamers.
The topic about the imbalance of the Klingon faction and the Federation faction is a hot topic that the Star Trek Online community are rather displeased, Cryptic Studios claim that although it is a featured added very late in the development, but as the game progresses over time, new updated contents will eventually sort out the imbalance or other irregularities in the game.
